Dental implants offer a solid solution to replace missing teeth. They also provide excellent support and stability for dental restorations like crowns, bridges, and dentures. At De Lucs Dental, LLC, we deliver different tooth replacement options to restore your mouth functions and smile aesthetics.
Dental implants are false tooth roots composed of titanium that are surgically placed into the missing socket. In due course, they fuse with the bone tissue and are covered with natural-looking prosthetic teeth. Dental implants are robust, stable, and will last many years.
Dental CrownsÂ
A dental crown is a cap secured over a tooth surface and is matched with the color and shape of the natural tooth. In case of a missing tooth, an implant-supported crown can be utilized. To secure an implant-supported crown, the natural tooth will first need to be replaced. An implant titanium screw is placed in the jawbone, and a connecting piece called the abutment is fixed. The abutment will stick out of the gum line, and the gums will be stitched around it.Â
A temporary crown is placed following the implant placement procedure. Once the surgical area has completely healed and the bone has grafted with the dental implant, a permanent dental crown will be created and placed. Dental crowns can reinstate a single or several missing teeth that are not adjacent to one another.Â
Dental Bridge
A dental bridge comprises two dental crowns with a prosthetic tooth between them. They can restore adjacent teeth that are decayed, damaged, or missing all at once. When used in combination with dental implants, they are referred to as an implant-supported bridge.
Implant-supported bridges are employed when the natural teeth are unable to support a dental appliance. The bridges use dental implants as support for dental crowns and false teeth. The fixing of a dental bridge is similar to dental crown placement, but two dental implants are used.Â
Implant-Supported DenturesÂ
Dentures are false gum and teeth used to restore an entire top or bottom arch of teeth. They are used in situations where many natural teeth are missing due to decay or damage. Fixed dentures called implant-supported dentures use dental implants for permanent balance in the mouth. Implant-supported dentures are held in position by around four dental implants in each arch.Â
